Winecap (Stropharia rugosoannulata) mushrooms are commonly grown outdoors in wood chip garden beds starting in the spring. They love soft hardwood chips (elder, maple, cottonwood, etc) and thrive in shaded areas. Grain spawn is used to inoculate the wood chips with the mycelium.
Winecaps will begin to fruit 2-10 months after inoculation of the woods chips. Be sure to keep the area moist to encourage growth of the mycelum. When building your winecap bed be sure to layer wood chips with the myceliated grain. You can also place straw over the bed to keep the moisture in.
The bag includes about 3.5lbs of grain that's been fully colonized with winecap mycelium.
Each grain spawn is made to order. Orders may take up to 2-3 weeks to ship to ensure the spawn is viable.
