Stir bars are used when making Liquid Culture. Liquid cultures need to be occasionally stirred so that the mycelium will be properly broken up. Without stirring, you risk clogging your syringe needle. Stir bars can be used over and over again. They are resist heat damage and can go through sterilization cycles without any problems. This makes them perfect for stirring liquid cultures!
